Napoli may have to do without Giacomo Raspadori for the first leg of their Champions League Round of 16 clash with Eintracht Frankfurt.

The 22-year-old Italian forward has played an important role for Luciano Spalletti’s side this season since joining from Sassuolo on a loan deal with a conditional obligation to buy clause attached, even if he hasn’t featured consistently.

Raspadori is clearly a talented forward and he showed off his potential in the Champions League in the first half of this season, scoring four goals and providing two assists across five group stage appearances.

As announced by Napoli, Raspadori was forced to leave training yesterday with a muscle injury and tests carried out today confirm that he’s suffered a second-degree sprain to the semimembranosus muscle in his left thigh.

The 22-year-old has already started his recovery process and will be closely monitored over the coming weeks, putting him in doubt for the first leg of the Champions League clash with Eintracht Frankfurt, scheduled for February 21.
