Former Juventus and Napoli forward Fernando Llorente has officially announced his retirement at the age of 37.

The Spanish forward had multiple spells in Serie A, initially joining the Bianconeri in July 2013, where he spent two years before leaving for Sevilla. In September 2019 Llorente returned to Italy, joining Napoli on a free transfer, where he spent 18 months before finishing out the 2020-21 season with Udinese.

Llorente has been without a club since his one-year deal with Eibar expired last summer, and he announced on Spanish TV that his playing career can now be considered over.

When asked if he would ever return to the pitch, he said: “No, no. Now I have everything clear. I continue to keep fit by playing padel.”

Across his various spells in Serie A, Llorente scored 27 goals and provided seven assists in 100 appearances. His most prolific time in Italy was with Juventus, where he netted 27 and provided 10 assists in 92 games.

The Spanish striker won three Scudetti, two Coppa Italia and two Supercoppa Italiana, as well as the World Cup in 2010.
