Claudio Ranieri has two reasons to be happy for Sampdoria’s win over Torino and insists he is in no rush to sign a contract extension.

An Antonio Candreva goal gave Sampdoria all three points against Torino with the Blucechiati who put an end to a streak of five games without victories.

“We won and kept a clean sheet, so I have two reasons to be happy. It wasn’t an easy game. The first half was good. Torino had achieved important results recently. We knew we had to fight for every possession,” the coach told Sky Sport Italia.

“The first part of the season had been positive, we didn’t win many games lately, but we didn’t play badly either.

“I don’t like to talk about bad luck and I told the lads not to waste what we had done in the Girone d’andata.

"We want to finish among the top 10. I am sure this team has the qualities to do it.”

Will he sign a contract extension with Sampdoria?

“There’s always time to talk. For me, it’s not a problem. We look forward, and when the President calls me, I’ll talk to him.

“I am serene even if nobody wants me. I like coaching, I’ll talk to the President, and whoever will be the Sporting Director, I am serene.”
