“It’s really strange to be essentially giving a baptism to Pirlo as a coach, it feels like he only retired as a player yesterday…” 68-year-old Ranieri told the club website.

“It’s really strange to be essentially giving a baptism to Pirlo as a coach, it feels like he only retired as a player yesterday…” 68-year-old Ranieri told the club website.

“Pirlo has this huge responsibility on his shoulders, but it’s also a pleasure to see champion players lead other champion players. I am sure he’ll do well.

“It’ll be a difficult first game for us, but we’ll try to do our best and hope to continue where we left off last season. The important thing is to get a strong start, because our fans suffered too much last year.”
