Monaco Vice-president Vadim Vasilyev says that speculation over the future of Coach Claudio Ranieri is unjustified.

The Ligue 1 big spenders seem set to finish second in their first season since promotion to France’s top flight.

However, this has not been enough to prevent rumours circulating that the Italian tactician is set to be axed in favour of Zinedine Zidane.

“I am surprised by the rumours,” Vasilyev has said to the media. “I’ve already said that Ranieri has a contract until 2015.

“He is working hard to achieve the objectives we set him at the start of the season.

“These rumours are unjustified.”
