Claudio Ranieri has compared the Claudio Tavecchio debacle to LA Clippers owner Donald Sterling.

The owner of the NBA franchise was given a lifetime ban earlier this year after alleged racist comments.

Tavecchio meanwhile, has remained stoic despite several clubs in Serie A publicly backing down from their support for his candidacy of FIGC President.

And the former Roma Coach has claimed that the septuagenarian should think before speaking.

“Tavecchio’s comments were not good,” he told Gazzetta dello Sport.

“A person in such a position should use his words more wisely.

“In the NBA they have driven someone out for a lot less than this.

“I want to see us do the same. I understand a democracy, but frankly I’m baffled.”

Ranieri then commented on Cesare Prandelli’s resignation as Italy Coach.

“I don’t want to comment on who should be the next boss. I’m sorry for Prandelli.

“He brought a new philosophy and mentality to the national team.”
