Samp walked away with a well-earned point against Milan last week, and Ranieri says they face another tough challenge against Brescia.

“When we play as a team, beautifully compact, we can create problems for opponents,” said Ranieri in his press conference.

“Now I expect the same test of determination against a very well organised Brescia side. It’ll be a difficult game, as they will come here to win. We need to be careful.

Ranieri identified Brescia striker Mario Balotelli as the Rondinelle’s main threat.

“Balotelli is a champion, he has different arrows in his bow to score goals. He plays with intelligence.

“We need to play as a team to stop him.”

Despite having a positive effect on Sampdoria, Ranieri doesn’t know if his side will reach the mythical 40-point tally.

“Since I came, we were last in the table. I have been very positive. It is my nature. I see that there are several teams down there with us.

“I don’t know if the 40-point mark will be enough. We have to believe in what we do, there will be ups and down, but we must not panic.”
