Claudio Ranieri hints he wants to extend his stay at Sampdoria, but insists it’s still too early to enter new contract talks.

The Blucerchiati have 30 points in 22 Serie A games so far this season and won three of their last five League matches.

Ranieri’s contract expires at the end of the season and the former Leicester City coach seems willing to extend his stay at the Stadio Marassi: “I’ll speak with the President when he will call me,” Ranieri told Il Secolo XIX.

“Right now, it honestly seems premature.

“If I were the President, I would wait for the coach to reach his target and ours’ is to get 40 points, or 43 as Ferrero says,” Ranieri continued.

“Let’s get there and then we’ll see if the coach is a good fit for the team. I’ve never been in rush to sign a new contract. I’m not pushing for it, I go to the pitch and work, it’s the thing I like doing the most.”
