Claudio Ranieri is expected to fly in from London on Friday afternoon to take the Roma job after Eusebio Di Francesco’s dismissal.

The former Leicester City and Nantes boss was only fired by Premier League side Fulham on February 28.

This will be a caretaker role until the end of the season, with an option to extend, but few believe the club will rely on Ranieri going forward.

He is due to fly in to Fiumicino Airport in Rome on Friday at 12.55 local time and his lawyer Mattia Grassani was already spotted at the Trigoria training ground this evening for negotiations.

Ranieri returns to the Stadio Olimpico for the club he has always supported, as he already sat on their bench from September 2009 to February 2011.

Meanwhile, the wording of the statement on Di Francesco's exit and the reports emerging from the training ground suggest the Coach agreed to walk away by mutual consent, saving the club a legal battle.
