Rangnick has long been linked with Milan, but doubts remained over which role he would fill at San Siro.

After Tuttosport reported this morning that an agreement had been reached, SportMediaset has since gone into further detail.

In its eyes, the German will leave the Red Bull group in 10 days’ time, vacating his post as head of football operations.

He will then hold talks with Rossoneri chief Gordon Singer before signing on until 2023, with the option of a fourth year, pocketing a €5m salary.

Most significantly, Mediaset’s sports division fully expects him to be appointed as an English-style manager, taking control of coaching and recruitment for at least his first season.

However, Rangnick will only arrive once the 2019-20 campaign has ended, so he will not be able to commence his duties until early August.

His arrival is also set to signal the end of several tenures at Milan, with Stefano Pioli, Ricky Massara and club legend Paolo Maldini all on the chopping block.
