Milan join Inter in the hunt for Barcelona midfielder Ivan Rakitic, as Ivan Gazidis said they will be able to “also invest in experienced players”.

Reports in Italy are claiming that the out-of-favour Croatian might be a target for Milan this January, as it seems the 31-year-old is looking for a move away from Catalunya.

Rakitic has already been repeatedly linked with a move to their city rivals Inter, setting up an intriguing Derby della Madonnina on the transfer market.

Both Calciomercato and La Gazzetta dello Sport are claiming that the playmaker, who is contracted to Barca until June 2021, is a target as he is not playing regularly for Blaugrana.

“I will do everything I can to help this club back on the right path,” said Gazidis to La Gazzettal dello Sport. “I’m convinced we will achieve our objectives if we work together in the difficult moments.

“Right now, we have the youngest team in Serie A, but this doesn’t mean that we won’t invest in players with experience to guide the younger ones.
