Mayor Virginia Raggi sees the Stadio della Roma as “a great opportunity to relaunch Rome’s economy” and assures “we’ll succeed”.

The Giallorossi are looking to get final approval to begin construction on a new arena in the Tor di Valle area, and today officials from the club met with the city’s mayor.

After the meeting Raggi spoke to the media, revealing that Roma President Jim Pallotta will pay for renovations on a different fountain to the fountain he dived into last night.

“We thank President James Pallotta who, after his dip yesterday, has made a generous gesture to the city and wants to pay €230,000 to restore the fountain,” Raggi told the waiting reporters.

“I’d say it’s a beautiful gesture, so thanks for that. As for the stadium, we’re proceeding with a new programme to remember that with this project €800m of foreign investment will come to the city of Rome.

“Clearly that’s a great opportunity to launch Rome’s economy. We’re really moving forward with tight deadlines, and we’ll succeed.”
