The right-back, signed for an undisclosed fee that is believed to be around €7m, has penned a three-year contract.

The Brazilian, who has one cap, leaves Serie A just a year after joining the Marassi outfit from Schalke 04.

"We've signed Rafinha, an established and experienced player, to add even greater stability to our defence," stated Bayern director of sport Christian Nerlinger.

"We'll also benefit from his footballing skill. We're very pleased we've been able to reach agreement with him and Genoa over his transfer to Munich."
