According to the Corriere dello Sport, David Silva is keeping Lazio waiting because he is seriously considering a move to Qatar instead.

The 34-year-old is leaving Manchester City as a free agent once the Champions League campaign is over.

He had been on the verge of signing the two-year contract with Lazio, worth around €4m per season in wages with bonuses and benefits including a personal driver and use of a private jet to visit family in Spain.

However, the days go by and there is no news, with reports in Italy suggesting Silva isn’t even taking Lazio’s calls.

The Corriere dello Sport maintains the reason is not a new offer from Serie A, for example Juventus or Napoli, but rather he is considering a big money move to Qatar.

The most likely rival for the Aquile is Xavi’s Al-Sadd.
