Christian Pulisic felt it was ‘just a matter of time’ before Milan swept past Lazio and they ‘have a good chance’ of winning the Scudetto this season.

This was a big test for the Rossoneri, who had lost their previous head-to-head with Inter 5-1, but rarely looked in danger at San Siro, especially after stepping up the pressure in the second half.

Rafael Leao provided both assists from the left wing to Pulisic and Noah Okafor for the 2-0 victory, while Pedro saw a wonderful stoppage-time curler disallowed because Ciro Immobile was offside in the build-up.

“I thought we put a lot of pressure on, it was just a matter of time, we finally opened it up and from there it was a really strong performance,” Pulisic told DAZN.

“I haven’t been here a long time, there are a lot of new players, but we are really starting to gel well. I am really enjoying my time with the team.”

This was his third goal in Serie A in this debut campaign, so does the USMNT striker have a target he is aiming for, even challenging for the Capocannoniere title?

“I don’t want to say one number, I just want to score as many as I can, so the team can win as many games as we can. Hopefully, there are a lot more goals to come.”

Milan remain at least joint top of the table ahead of Inter’s trip to Salernitana this evening, so the Scudetto race is wide open.

“For us it’s about taking it one game at a time. I think it we take it game by game, put another three points in the bag, then of course we have a good chance to win.”
