Cagliari President Massimo Cellino has revealed that Ivo Pulga will return to the club following Diego Lopez’s sacking.

Following the Isolani’s defeat to Roma at the weekend, Lopez was given his marching orders by the owner, with the club seven points clear of the relegation zone.

But in a statement to reports, the Sardinian side’s chief has claimed that Pulga will come back to the fold.

“I have sacked Lopez as Coach of Cagliari and brought back Pulga,” he told ANSA.

“It’s an act that I wanted to avoid, but Lopez has forced me into this position, and I am not one to hide.”

There has been no official word however, from Cagliari themselves, but an announcement is expected soon.

It’s been a busy weekend for Cellino, who officially purchased 75 per cent of English club Leeds United after an appeal against the Football League was successfully overturned.
