Reports from France suggest that Paris Saint-Germain are working towards a January move for Milan Skriniar, whose contract expires with Inter next year.

The 27-year-old Slovakian centre back was at the centre of much transfer market buzz across the summer, with the French giants seemingly desperate to secure his signature. Inter rejected all offers from PSG, wanting at least €70-80m for Skriniar, and they managed to keep a hold of him.

With less than a year left on his contract, they’re looking to tie him down to a new deal, but things will not be simple.

L’Equipe details how PSG advisor Luis Campos is working towards a new offer for Skriniar in January, keen to take advantage of the fact that his contract is close to expiring. The injury to Presnel Kimpembe has only further convinced the Ligue 1 that the Slovakian is the right choice.

Inter are hoping to agree a new contract with Skriniar that’ll see him earn around €7m net per season, but the player was a little evasive when asked about his future in a press conference earlier this week, saying: “I don’t want to talk about my future and my contract, I don’t think it’s the right time and place.”

A new deal would essentially rule out an approach from PSG, but now the Nerazzurri will have to deal with the added pressure coming from the French capital as they work on a new contract.
