Mauro Icardi is clearly out of the project in Paris and he could reportedly return to Serie A as both Monza and Sampdoria have come forward to register their interest.

The Argentinian striker has not been called up by coach Christophe Galtier for tonight’s Ligue 1 opener against Clermont, leaving him sidelined due to personal reasons. Rumours from Argentina have suggested that his wife and agent Wanda Nara is now looking for a divorce, something that has been denied by the couple on social media.

As reported by L’Equipe, Icardi is unlikely to make a move to Borussia Dortmund, who are searching for replacements for Sebastien Haller, as they are focusing on other targets. He clearly won’t play a key role for PSG, so a departure this summer seems incredibly likely.

Monza are dreaming of a move for the 29-year-old and they’ve been in talks with the Ligue 1 side in recent weeks to explore a possible deal. They’re now facing competition from Sampdoria, who emerged recently following the possible involvement of the film entrepreneur Franco Di Silvio in the acquisition of the club. Also involved in that takeover are the Al Thani family, owners of PSG.

  1. oh of course Serie A would be linked with him, another rubbish player from Argentina, Serie A loves them, my word.

  2. If he was a professional like Lukaku or any ambitious player then he would return to Italy or any other league to play football. But why would he do that when he can get paid for doing nothing. Lukaku forced his return and agreed on a salary decrease because he values his profession and making history more than just money. In the end Icardi will be remembered as one of the weakest players in terms of his mentality from letting his wife becomes his agent to other controversies. His career is over no top team will even consider him at this point so the best he can do now is sit on the bench before his contract gets terminated.
