“I can confirm he will not be leaving and in fact will extend his contract,” President Nasser Al-Khelaifi told Le Parisien.

However, this evening PSG slammed the door shut on the France international.

“I can confirm he will not be leaving and in fact will extend his contract,” President Nasser Al-Khelaifi told Le Parisien.

“I always wanted him to stay, as he is an exemplary player who gives his all for PSG. He has an immense heart on the field and remains an icon for our club.”

It was earlier reported that PSG wanted €30m for Matuidi, while Juve only offered €22.5m plus bonuses.

Mediaset Premium claim the new contract will raise his wages to €8m per year.

There is a theory from MercatoRetweettato that Paris Saint-Germain refused to do business with Juventus as revenge for their poaching of Kingsley Coman as a free agent.
