Kylian Mbappe is seemingly close to joining Real Madrid in the summer and Paris Saint-Germain have identified Milan star Rafael Leao as their preferred replacement.

Last week, a report from Le Parsien claimed that Mbappe had decided to leave the Ligue 1 giants for Real Madrid in the coming summer transfer window, finally making the long-awaited jump to the Spanish capital.

Things will not be so simple, however, and endless reports are expected over the coming months as this transfer saga continues to rumble on. Mbappe has the option to automatically extend his PSG contract for a further year and there are also vague rumours of interest in a move to the Premier League.

As reported by Corriere dello Sport via MilanNews, should Mbappe ultimately leave PSG in the summer, they’d look to bring in Leao as his replacement, with the Milan star topping their wish list. The Portuguese star has a €175m release clause in his contract.

Much depends on the will of the 24-year-old forward, who is happy with the Rossoneri but also tempted by the idea of joining the Ligue 1 giants.

This season, Leao has scored six goals and provided eight assists in 2050 minutes of action across 27 total appearances.
