French newspapers claim PSG are suddenly back in the race for Napoli star Edinson Cavani, battling Chelsea and Real Madrid.

Manchester City appear to have dropped out after President Aurelio De Laurentiis revealed the Citizens did not want to pay the €63m buy-out clause.

It seemed to have been whittled down to just two clubs, but Paris Saint-Germain are making a sudden surge.

According to Le Parisien, the Ligue 1 winners have raised their proposal to €53m, although it is still below the asking price.

Last night De Laurentiis told a radio station that Cavani would stay at Napoli if he was “a real man” and would have to clarify the situation by July 20.

The forward is currently on international duty with Uruguay at the Confederations Cup.
