He has so far favoured goalkeeper David Ospina to Alex Meret, as he considers the Colombian better at playing out from the back.

However, Ospina is in doubt for this evening’s game after suffering from a stomach bug.

It’s reported that unless Ospina is very badly affected, he will still be chosen ahead of Meret.

With Allan injured – and home in Brazil to meet his new-born son – Diego Demme is likely to start in midfield with Fabian Ruiz and Piotr Zielinski, leaving Stanislav Lobotka on the bench.

As for the defence, it has now become evident Gattuso prefers to use full-back Giovanni Di Lorenzo in the centre rather than Sebastiano Luperto.

Juventus make the trip to Naples without Mattia De Sciglio, Danilo, Merih Demiral, Giorgio Chiellini and Sami Khedira.

Matthijs de Ligt gets the nod with Leonardo Bonucci in central defence, but the big question is in midfield.

Rodrigo Bentancur returns after a three-match Serie A ban, so is guaranteed his spot with Miralem Pjanic, but then it’s between Blaise Matuidi and Adrien Rabiot.

Maurizio Sarri probably won’t risk the all-star trident attack, so Gonzalo Higuain steps back to the bench, as Aaron Ramsey is first choice trequartista behind Paulo Dybala and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Probable line-ups

Napoli: Ospina; Hysaj, Manolas, Di Lorenzo, Mario Rui; Fabian Ruiz, Demme, Zielinski; Callejon, Milik, Insigne

Juventus: Szczesny; Cuadrado, De Ligt, Bonucci, Alex Sandro; Bentancur, Pjanic, Matuidi; Ramsey; Dybala, Ronaldo
