The Rossoneri are fatigued after Thursday’s Europa League defeat to Manchester United, but also have precious few options to choose from.

Ante Rebic begins his two-match ban for insulting the referee, but wouldn’t have been able to play anyway, as he is injured along with Rafael Leao, Davide Calabria, Alessio Romagnoli, Mario Mandzukic and Daniel Maldini.

Ibrahimovic returns to the starting XI for the first time in almost a month after his thigh strain, having been a substitute against United midweek.

Dalot was benched in favour of Pierre Kalulu in the Europa League, but will be the right-back with Calabria out following knee surgery.

Tonali steps in for Soualiho Meite in midfield, and Brahim Diaz is the favourite to step in on the left of the supporting trio with Alexis Saelemaekers and Hakan Calhanoglu.

Unlike the Europa League, Jens Petter Hauge is available for Stefano Pioli and the only real option to replace Ibrahimovic when he runs out of steam.

Fiorentina are without defender Igor and striker Aleksandar Kokorin, but there are some fitness concerns around Sofyan Amrabat, Christian Kouame and former Milan midfielder Giacomo Bonaventura.

Cesare Prandelli tends to vary between a 3-5-2 and 4-4-2 formation, but there are growing suggestions from the Viola camp that he could go for the latter against Milan.

That would have Lucas Martinez Quarta and Martin Caceres as the full-backs.

Franck Ribery will partner on-form Dusan Vlahovic, that is not in doubt, but the question marks are elsewhere.

Cristiano Biraghi is not at 100 per cent and likely to be initially on the bench.

Gaetano Castrovilli should step back into the starting XI, with Valentin Eysseric the favourite compared to Kevin Malcuit or Jose Callejon.

Probable line-ups

Fiorentina (4-4-1-1): Dragowski; Martinez Quarta, Milenkovic, Pezzella, Caceres; Eysseric, Pulgar, Castrovilli, Bonaventura; Ribery; Vlahovic

Milan (4-2-3-1): G Donnarumma; Dalot, Kjaer, Tomori, Theo Hernandez; Tonali, Kessie; Saelemaekers, Calhanoglu, Brahim Diaz; Ibrahimovic
