Enrico Preziosi hit out at Marco Di Bello’s ‘disgraceful’ refereeing during Genoa’s 3-2 defeat to Roma on Sunday, accusing him of ‘acting in bad faith’.

Alessandro Florenzi seemed to push Goran Pandev as he was mid-air trying to head a cross deep in stoppage time, but there was no VAR review and Preziosi disparagingly described the technology as a ‘weapon’.

“We can’t go on like this,” he told Gazzetta dello Sport.

“I consider VAR to be a real weapon at this point. The referees decide whatever they want, but it’s no longer possible to keep quiet.

“Roma have won 10 times out of 10 when Di Bello has been referee, while we’ve lost nine out of 10. Enough is enough.

“How was it possible that the referee didn’t see such a clear penalty in our favour? He was right there…

“The truth is that Roma had to win, nothing else can be done. It’s not possible to go on like this.

“There were protests and public disorder in Rome. We need to change everything, not only the system but also the people.

“A referee can’t refuse to check if there’s been a malicious action. I consider that to be acting in bad faith.

“Pandev was pushed with two hands by the Roma player behind him when he went up for a header. It’s a disgrace, a real disgrace.”
