Lorenzo Casini, President of Lega Serie A, has confessed that the game between Napoli and Salernitana scheduled for Saturday afternoon could be moved if the Interior Ministry in Italy declares the game to be a concern for public order.

The Municipality of Naples had previously requested that the game be pushed back until Sunday afternoon, to be played at the same time as InterLazio, citing concerns over infrastructure and public safety.

If Napoli beat Salernitana and second place Lazio fail to beat Inter at San Siro, the Pertenopei will have officially won their first Scudetto in over 30 years.

Casini, in attendance at the Primavera TIM Cup final on Tuesday evening, told reporters that there is a possibility that Napoli’s game could be rescheduled for Sunday.

He told reporters: “We are in contact with the National Observatory on Sporting Events of the Ministry of the Interior. If there are reasons to move the match over public order, the League will adapt.”

If the Napoli-Salernitana game were to be pushed back until Sunday, it could have knock-on effects for the rest of the league’s schedule.

Udinese-Napoli is currently set to be played next Tuesday, just two days after Napoli’s visit from Salernitana, which would also have to be rearranged.

However, Udinese have already started selling tickets for the Napoli game and TV rights contracts with Sky and Dazn which must be fulfilled, which could cause further issues in Napoli’s attempts to get Saturday’s game moved.
