Gianfelice Facchetti, son of iconic Inter full-back Giacinto, recently put out a rally cry to Nerazzurri supporters to get behind the under-fire Simone Inzaghi as the club prepares for the crucial run-in at the back-end of the 2022-23 campaign.

The actor-director also pointed out that Inter are only two points worse off than reigning champions Milan in the league and doesn’t see the same level of scrutiny for Stefano Pioli.

Inter have struggled to find consistent form in the league and have only picked up one win in their last six Serie A matches, despite having reached the last four of the Champions League.

As a result, Inzaghi is widely reported to be at risk of losing his job in the summer, but for the time being, Inter have a massively important run of fixtures to get through first and Fachetti believes that getting behind Inzaghi and his team is the right thing to do.

Facchetti told FCInter1908: “Any overall assessment of Inter’s season should be made at the end, for everyone, not just for the coach.”

“I think Inzaghi has shown that he is not on the Inter bench by chance, but for him the judgments are always more intense than for others,” he continued.

“Let’s take Pioli for example who has just two points more in the championship, he coaches the champions of Italy, who haven’t sold anyone. I’ve never heard the same rumours about Milan as there are with Inter.

“It’s the same old story that calls into question both internal and external factors for the Nerazzurri. Today, anyone who really loves Inter must stay with Inzaghi.”

After Juventus had their 15 points reinstated, the Nerazzurri have slipped into sixth in the table and face a mammoth task in retaining Champions League football next season.
