Hernanes is not worried by Inter’s failure to score in pre-season as ‘our focus has been on fitness’.

The Nerazzurri were defeated 3-0 by Real Madrid earlier today, the third time in a row they have failed to score, following matches against Bayern Munich and Milan.

“We played very well in the first half and created chances that we should have scored from,” Hernanes explained to the Press after the match.

The Nerazzurri were defeated 3-0 by Real Madrid earlier today, the third time in a row they have failed to score, following matches against Bayern Munich and Milan.

“We played very well in the first half and created chances that we should have scored from,” Hernanes explained to the Press after the match.

“Then they scored their first goal and began to dominate. They were the better side in the second half but we started very positively.

“We knew that our main target here wasn’t to win the matches. Obviously it would have been better to win but we’ve worked very hard and played a lot of matches, so we’re a bit tired.

“We know that Real Madrid are one of the best teams in the world and we matched them in the first half.

“They were able to make their quality show in the end. We came here to prepare for the season ahead. We’ve had lots of matches close together as well as lots of training sessions.

“Perhaps we could have done better in terms of our results, but we’ve prepared for the season well.

“I don’t think pre-season is about scoring goals or not. Obviously we want to score and to win football matches, but I want to reiterate that our focus has been on fitness.”

The Brazilian international was also asked for his thought on Stevan Jovetic, who is set to complete a transfer from Manchester City.

“He’s a great player who has performed well in Italy before.”
