Cesare Prandelli has claimed that he is not reading too much into Italy’s 1-1 draw with Luxembourg on Wednesday.

Claudio Marchisio had given the Azzurri a 1-0 lead in Perugia, but a late header from Maxime Chanot ensured the national team left for Brazil without a win in their two pre-World Cup friendlies.

“We have tried a few things,” he told Rai Sport after the game. “But there are a few things that we need to improve on.

“At times we were quite crowded in the middle, and had spaces out wide.

“But we’ll keep working. We know we can have a great World Cup.”

The Coach then commented on a frustrating night for Mario Balotelli, who missed several opportunities.

“Mario had two good opportunities in the first half, and had another chance when Cassano came on.

“We’ve missed a few chances tonight, and then conceded a goal from a corner.”
