Italy boss Cesare Prandelli is refusing to criticise Zdenek Zeman for dropping Daniele De Rossi from his Roma starting XI.

The midfielder has had his problems with the 4-3-3 maestro this season and was benched for the 1-0 loss at Chievo on Sunday.

“We need to respect the decisions of the Coach,” the Azzurri tactician told Rai Sport on Monday afternoon.

“However, I’m convinced that by working hard, Daniele will be able to get Zeman to change his mind.”

Prandelli was also asked for a comment on Mario Balotelli after Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini recently urged him to not waste his talent.

“Mancini is right,” the former Fiorentina Coach noted. “Balotelli must listen to him. A Coach can help, but ultimately it all depends on the player.”

When asked if Balotelli could be aided by a return to Serie A, Prandelli refused to whip up transfer speculation.

“For us, it is important that he regularly plays – the city or country where he does that is not a problem.”
