Cesare Prandelli believes Italy “are on the right track” despite their friendly defeat to France and reveals his Confederations Cup plans.

“We are on the right track and must continue along this path,” said the Coach after last night’s unlucky 2-1 loss.

“I am very satisfied with the response given by the young players. In 2013 we must further increase our lead in the 2014 World Cup qualifying group so we can book our ticket as soon as possible.”

The Azzurri are top of Group B with 10 points from four games, followed by Bulgaria on six and the Czech Republic with five from three matches.

As Spain are both the reigning World and European champions, Italy will be at the Confederations Cup in Brazil in June as runners-up at Euro 2012.

“The Confederations Cup will be the opportunity to perform some new tests,” added Prandelli.

The European Under-21 Championship will also be held next summer in Israel and it’s believed Prandelli will leave young talents like Marco Verratti, Stephan El Shaarawy, Lorenzo Insigne and Alessandro Florenzi to the Azzurrini for that tournament.
