“Compliments to Roberto for his choices and for a great match. The team was organised, rather than just individuals.

“[Federico] Bernardeschi, [Federico] Chiesa and [Nicolo] Barella proved they have solidity, quality and stamina.

“We struggled to score goals but we created a lot of chances and were unlucky. Roberto did well to set up the team that way.

“We need to take things step-by-step and now it’s up to Roberto to decide whether to use a striker or not.”

Prandelli was also asked about rumours that he was close to joining Napoli.

“After Euro 2012, yes, but I was tied to Italy. Before [Maurizio] Sarri, no.”
