Genoa Coach Cesare Prandelli believes his side can get something out of their meeting with high-flying Atalanta tomorrow.

Genoa will be facing Atalanta at Sassuolo’s Mapei Stadium as renovation work has begun on the Dea’s home of Azzurri d’Italia.

The Grifone are 16th in Serie A, just four points ahead of Empoli in the last relegation spot, and are on a seven-match winless run.

Prandelli has overseen just four victories since he replaced Davide Ballardini in December, but one of them came against Saturday’s hosts.

Prandelli has overseen just four victories since he replaced Davide Ballardini in December, but one of them came against Saturday’s hosts.

“We want to be in the game from the first minute,” he stated at his pre-match Press conference.

“Atalanta are a strong side but we can hurt them, although tomorrow we will have to be especially careful of Josip Ilicic. He is in great form and knows how to get his team ticking on the field.

“Atalanta have their own identity with a Coach who has his own ideas and it is no coincidence that they are in the Final of the Coppa Italia and fighting for the top four.

“They are definitely among the best in Europe at pressing high up the pitch. They will be focused on us and this game, I don’t believe they will have their minds on the Coppa Italia Final yet.

“We won’t have anything handed to us, but we can achieve a positive result.”

The 61-year-old has an injury crisis in midfield, with Stefano Sturaro, Oscar Hiljemark, Darko Lazovic and Luca Mazzitelli all missing out.

“When you lose players like Sturaro, Hiljemark, and Mazzitelli, it’s not easy to move forward, but the team responded well in the draw with Roma.

“Lazovic won’t travel with us as he hasn’t recovered in time, while Mazzitelli could be fit for next week.

“We can’t think about our missing players, but we have to play thinking it is our game of the season.”

“Trust is very important to me, it is something I am trying to grow, you can never lose the trust.

“You must trust your teammates because that is what makes you a team. I am happy when I see a player like Christian Kouame realise that everything I tell him is for his own good."
