Cesare Prandelli has overtaken Sinisa Mihajlovic as the favourite for the Lazio job, say reports.

The Serbian, who was sacked by Milan earlier this month, had been heavily linked with a return to the club he spent time at as a player.

However, Corriere dello Sport reports today that former Italy CT Prandelli is now leading the race to take over from caretaker Coach Simone Inzaghi this summer.

The newspaper writes that while Inzaghi has done well in the post, Aquile President Claudio Lotito wants a more experienced leader for next season.

However, Corriere dello Sport reports today that former Italy CT Prandelli is now leading the race to take over from caretaker Coach Simone Inzaghi this summer.

Lotito is seriously considering Prandelli for the role and the ex-Fiorentina tactician appeared open to the idea when asked about it on Tuesday.

Torino boss Giampiero Ventura is Lotito’s second choice according to the report, as the veteran is appreciated for his experience and has already met the Biancocelesti owner in secret a few weeks ago.

Former Inter and Napoli Coach Walter Mazzarri and ex-Chile CT Marcelo Bielsa have also been named as outsiders for the role.
