Cesare Prandelli is confident his Italy team are ready for their World Cup match against Costa Rica but has called for drink breaks to be implemented.

High heat and humidity is expected in Recife for tomorrow’s Group D encounter between the sides and the Azzurri Coach acknowledged his charges will have to suffer if they want the three points against the Central Americans.

“The work at the stadium has been finished, it’s a very nice stadium,” Prandelli commented at a Press conference.

“We knew we would encounter this temperature and this humidity. We are ready.

“We have no excuses and the climate does not worry us anymore. It is the teams who worry us, those who know how to up the tempo – in other words, the South American teams, who have shown more explosiveness compared to the Europeans.

“We will have to suffer and tomorrow we will have to emphasize the idea of our game even more.

“Today we have done some trials. At 13.20 it was 29 degrees and 57 per cent humidity. A few minutes later it was almost 40 degress and the humidity had jumped to 70 per cent.

“For this, they should always do time outs.”
