The former Fiorentina ds joined the Blucerchiati last month, but was only officially presented to the media today.

“It’s a privilege to be here,” Prade told the assembled journalists.

“I’m very proud to have been chosen by President Massimo Ferrero, a man who injects energy in you every time you speak to him.

“Sampdoria have a huge desire to grow as a club and I’m here to help make that happen. I’m really happy to have joined this club – it has the best colours in the world and a stadium with a truly wonderful atmosphere.

“We can certainly say this club has big plans, starting with Casa Samp – a state-of-the-art facility that few clubs in Italy possess. Then of course we have a first-team with solid foundations.

“Sampdoria want to grow and be an innovative club. I’ll be following football matters of course but I’ll also be working on the club’s business plan, in communications and marketing. I’ll help to connect the various areas.

“I’ve signed a one-year contract with an option for a second. It will take us a few months to get to know each other but we’re already working with the future in mind.

“Sampdoria set out to play good football but we’ll have a look at where we need to change things and where we can improve.

“Our long-term aim is to give our players an identity, a sense of belonging to the Samp colours starting with the youngest academy kids.”
