The Italian Government is reportedly planning a reform to the sporting justice system that would prevent the Juventus situation happening again by banning points penalties during the season.

There was controversy that the Serie A table changed repeatedly during this campaign, creating a sense of uncertainty for all the clubs challenging for the Champions League and Europa League places.

Juve were initially docked 15 points, those were returned on appeal and a new penalty handed down of 10 points.

According to news agency Ansa, the Government has written up a draft amendment to the sporting justice system to prevent it happening again.

The reforms will ensure that penalties and appeals cannot change the table during the course of the season, but only before or after the tournament has been completed.

There will also be modifications on the fiscal treatment given to capital gains for sporting clubs.

That could affect any future cases around artificially inflated transfer fees to boost capital gains, as the existing rules could do with greater clarity.
