He got a consolation goal in Belgium for the 3-1 defeat, their first in European competition.

“We didn’t give up to the end and tried in every way to get this game back on track, but it started badly and ended worse.

“We are upset at the performance, because we could’ve done better and Genk left us so many spaces to move in. They scored two goals with their first two shots on target and we should’ve had a penalty, because it left a mark, you could tell it was inside the box.

“Now we have to gather our strength and be ready to play again on Sunday. These games let you understand it needs a whole new mentality in Europe, especially as many of us are only in our first or second Serie A seasons, so we’re learning.

“We won the first match, so nothing is lost yet.”
