FIFA have announced that Poland will go straight into the World Cup play-off final against either Sweden or the Czech Republic after Russia were excluded, while Scotland can play Ukraine in June.

There are numerous Serie A players involved in these games on their path towards the tournament in Qatar in November and December 2022.

Poland, Sweden and the Czech Republic all refused to play against Russia, no matter the venue, after the invasion of Ukraine.

FIFA have now confirmed that Poland – who were meant to play Russia in the semi-final – will go straight through to the play-off final against either Sweden or the Czech Republic.

Due to the on-going situation in Ukraine, their match with Scotland will be rescheduled for June, from the original March 24, 2022 date.

The match between the winners of that game and Wales vs. Austria will also be played in June.

Wales-Austria remains as scheduled on March 24.
