Paul Pogba’s new Amazon Prime documentary includes an interview with lawyer Rafaela Pimenta, who reveals why the player returned to Manchester United from Juventus to be ‘a hero’ and what he’ll do after hanging up his boots.

Pimenta has taken the reins of the agency following the death of Mino Raiola and was therefore a key figure in the Pogmentary.

As a return to Juve looks imminent as a free agent, Pimenta looked back at when he decided to return to Manchester United in 2016.

“United wanted him back and he said: ‘Yes I will return, I have to finish what I started there.’ He signed, but I wasn’t so sure it would be this return as a hero. I think it’s more about a player at the top of his career who wants to achieve important trophies.

“The challenge for Paul now is deciding which club can take him to that objective. At his age, the next contract will be the final long deal of his career. We’ll see if it is still with United or if he will go to write his story elsewhere.”

As it turns out, Manchester United released Pogba as a free agent and he is widely believed to have agreed terms with Juventus.

It is the second time he has joined the Bianconeri for free, after originally leaving Manchester United in 2012.

Wearing the Juventus jersey, Pogba won four Serie A titles, two Italian Supercups and two Coppa Italia editions.

At Manchester United, his only silverware was one Europa League and two League Cups.

Premier League fans criticised Pogba for being more focused on social media than his football, but lawyer Pimenta considers that to be one of his great strengths.

“Paul is a performer and at the end of his playing career he really does want to do something in TV, cinema, things like that.

“Paul has a second dream, which is to be an artist. I think he already is a great artist, because he knows how to be on video, he is not timid, he can do anything they ask.”

The France international is currently on vacation in Miami and this too brings to mind for Pimenta a key to understanding Pogba.

“He really identifies with American sporting figures. The culture here is not so open to players doing things outside of their sport, whereas America is more encouraging. People don’t realise how much work is involved in being a player. We always advise him to go on vacation somewhere hot, so he can recuperate and really feel like he’s away from it all.

“He gets criticised for this, but people don’t understand that the happier he is, the quicker he recovers.”
