Roma goalkeeper Morgan De Sanctis says ‘the players were also responsible for Rudi Garcia’s sacking’.

The French Coach was fired in January after a slump in form and replaced by Luciano Spalletti.

The veteran reflected on a campaign that could’ve gone better, as well as revealing that he wants to stay on for another year in the capital.

“The results put everyone in difficulty, above all the club who had to make the decision to sack the Coach,” De Sanctis told Voce Giallorossa.

“The fact of not being cheerful and ruthless like at the start of his reign could have determined some situations but when you begin a season with a Coach and don’t bring him to the end, a great part of the responsibility is with the players.

“We had all the credentials to have a great season. Some more, some less, but we’re all responsible. I hope Rudi Garcia is back soon at a club of his standing, to get the satisfaction he deserves.

“Totti? He’ll find the best solution possible for Roma.

“Renewal? I’ve given my availability to continue to play for one more year because I feel good. We’ll see if this availability will be reciprocal.

“When you sign a contract you don’t think about how many games you must play but only about putting yourself at the disposition of the club.

“As long as you’re a player you must remain focused on being a player. Then when you decide to become a director you need to study.

“The experience of being a player can help but it isn’t decisive. I would see Totti doing well as President or vice-President. I’d like to be a club manager.

“Sabatini? I have a deep respect and admiration for him. I consider him a very serious professional, capable of doing his job. I just hope he can continue to work at Roma for as long as possible.”
