AIC chief Tommasi spoke to Radio Uno about the new rules to combat racist abuse from the stands, which sees referees halt play and a warning read out over the loudspeakers.

If the abuse continues, then the referee can halt the game, but players are urged not to walk off the field without permission from the officials.

“It has happened, in Busto Arsizio and in the Trofeo TIM, that players chose to leave the field, but the problem must be faced all together,” said Tommasi.

He was referring to two Milan incidents, as Kevin-Prince Boateng walked off during a friendly and Kevin Constant did the same against Sassuolo” data-scaytid=”17″>Sassuolo.

“The player must raise the problem with the referee, making the fourth official part of the situation and from there follow the planned procedure.

“The racists must leave the stadium, not those being insulted.”
