Miralem Pjanic praised Luciano Spalletti for transforming Roma and is ready for the “perfect” game at Real Madrid.

The Giallorossi are unrecognisable since Rudi Garcia was fired, notching up seven consecutive Serie A victories including last night’s 4-1 over Fiorentina.

“The whole team is really moving well and that makes everything easier,” the midfielder told Roma Radio.

“The squad is in good shape, there’s a lot of movement on the pitch and always someone you can pass the ball to. Physically the side is doing very well too and that also shines through with the results.

“I knew Spalletti for what he had done at Roma, but had never met him personally. He’s a really nice Coach who cares about us. He’s tough too and is always spurring us on, but is also someone you can talk to about anything. You know he’ll always be there to protect you if you do what he asks.

“Spalletti is above all focused on the details when it comes to the defence. Now we don’t want to stop, as with this confidence everything feels simpler. We have to make the most of this momentum and keep the concentration levels up.”

There was a curious statistic about last night’s game, as Stephan El Shaarawy scored one and assisted another, as did Diego Perotti, while Mohamed Salah bagged a brace including one from Pjanic’s pass.

“Now we know each other and combine very well, especially down my right side. Whether it’s Salah, Maicon or (Alessandro) Florenzi, now we are accustomed to completing these triangles.

“This also points to the intelligence of the squad and there are so many points still up for grabs. Edin Dzeko? He wants to play, as everyone does. We need Edin and he needs us to score goals.

“I don’t like it when I am not decisive, as I always want to be at the disposal of my teammates. Of course there are moments when it’s all going great and others in which you look as if you’ve forgotten how to play football.

“That spell happened to us for two months and we were no longer the team we knew we could be. What you see now is the real Roma.”

The Lupi visit Real Madrid in the Champions League on Tuesday, having lost the first leg 2-0 at home.

“We’ll go there to play our game,” assured Pjanic. “Unfortunately the first leg result was severe and we know that we are facing champions, but we’re in good form and will try to put in the perfect performance.”

Pjanic has been linked with a possible move to Antonio Conte’s Chelsea next season.

“I always felt happy at Roma, ever since I arrived. It is different to other teams. I have really become emotionally bonded with the club the way I only was with the side I grew up in, Metz.

“This club is aiming higher and higher, I feel good and what I’ve always dreamed of is to win here. I hope we can achieve that.

“Nobody has fans like ours. We hope the new Stadium can be built, because we’ll need it and then to win. It’ll be almost impossible for our opponents in that atmosphere.”
