The Bianconeri have won Serie A for the past six years, but were beaten in the Champions League final in both 2015 and 2017, having not won the competition since 1996.

Despite that, the Bosnian declared that the Scudetto was the most important objective as he discussed Friday’s Napoli games.

“It’ll be a game between two beautiful teams, who will play for the Scudetto right to the end,” Pjanic told Sky.

“We respect them a lot and we’re behind them, we’ll do our utmost to play out game and win.

“It will be difficult because they’re good. In this team there are so many champions and we have so much desire to improve.

“We have defects though, and I think whoever wins the trophy always deserves it.

“We want to aim for the Champions League again this season, last year we weren’t ready, but objective number one remains the Scudetto.”

Gonzalo Higuain could miss the match, as he’s been forced to have an operation on a hand injury.

“Higuain is very motivated of course, we’ll see if he’ll be available against Napoli. We hope so, but even if he’s not we’ll do our best to get three points.”
