Miralem Pjanic insists Roma “were much stronger” than Inter and explained his free kick technique.

“I can’t say it was complicated tonight, as Inter didn’t cause us that many problems,” he told Sky Sport Italia after a 4-2 victory.

“If anything, we caused our own problems with two avoidable goals and wasting our own chances up front.

“We could’ve scored more this evening, but Inter were never superior to us. We were much stronger on the night.

“Totti was trying to score, he saw me coming and I thank him for the assist.”

Pjanic sealed the fourth goal with a magnificent free kick, but baulked at questions about learning from his ex-Lyon teammate Juninho Pernambucano.

“How many times do I have to say my free kicks are not the same as Juninho? His ball moved from right to left and is better done from a distance. Finally it went in, as against Torino I hit the woodwork.

“Since Garcia arrived, my style of football has changed. The philosophy of our football fits me, the Coach has faith in me and puts everything through our midfield. It’s a lot of responsibility and we are happy with it, as with the quality we have it allows us to express ourselves even better.

“We have had injuries, but strength in depth will be important to keep up with Juve.”

Roma were held to a disappointing 1-1 draw with CSKA Moscow and there was controversy afterwards when some players were spotted at a strip club.

“The result was irritating, but nothing else. We should’ve won, but tonight we gave a great response and this was the response of a united squad.

“We had two hours after the game, we took a walk round and had nothing to hide. We were relaxed because the club backed us and I don’t know what you were expecting to hear. It was a non-story. The fans only care what we do on the pitch, not off it.”
