David Pizarro believes “my second skin is the Roma shirt”, as he looks back on his career following his retirement.

The 39-year-old hung up his boots in September after a spell at Universidad de Chile, following a career which took in Inter, Manchester City and the Giallorossi.

“Sooner or later the time comes for everyone, even for me,” Pizarro told La Tercera.

“It’s not that football is leaving me, I left it. I decided some time ago, but so many people asked me to rethink and that made it difficult.

“The best years of my career? At Roma, with the Champions League, and the Scudetto fight with a team as strong as [Jose] Mourinho’s Inter.

“I was also really happy in Udine, taking the team into the Champions League after 90 years. Today though, my second skin is the Roma shirt.”
