Ex-Fiorentina midfielder David Pizarro could be making a surprise return to Serie A in January for Carpi.

The Chile international’s contract was allowed to expire over the summer and he went back to his homeland for Santiago Wanderers.

However, according to La Nazione newspaper, Carpi contacted the club to ask for his availability.

‘Pek’ spent most of his career in Italy, joining Udinese in 1999, then moving on to Inter, Roma and Fiorentina with a brief spell at Manchester City.
