Former Roma midfielder David Pizarro has hit out at Daniele De Rossi after the vice-captain's well-publicised spat with Coach Zdenek Zeman.

The 29-year-old was left out of the Giallorossi's starting XI in the win over Chievo last weekend, with reports suggesting that the Italy international has fallen out with the Czech tactician.

And the current Fiorentina regista has criticised his one-time teammate, saying he is 'not in charge'.

“I always support Roma from afar,” he told Radio Mana Mana. “If a team of mine were to win against them, I could not cheer.

“De Rossi is not in charge at Roma. He should try and clarify his position with Zeman. I think it would be good for everyone if he clarified.”

The Chile international, who spent six years at Stadio Olimpico between 2006 and 2012, also spoke about his season so far in Florence, and the relationship between himself and boss Vincenzo Montella.

“I am in a good place right now,” he said. “Montella has asked everyone to be patient and believe in this project. The Coach and I love each other. I like Montella a lot.”
