The New York City FC playmaker has been linked with a move to San Siro in January for a three-month stint during the MLS off season.

The former Milan, PSG, Chelsea and Real Madrid boss supported the idea of the 37-year-old’s arrival and gave his opinion of the season so far.

“Is Pirlo the right man for Inter? I think the idea is born from the fact that Mancini has put together a compact and physical team that is missing a little bit of quality,” Ancelotti said to Radio Anch’io lo Sport.

“Pirlo could maybe give this quality, in this way I would see it going very well. He is still a treasure of football even if he plays in the United States.

“Inter? They convince me because strength and balance are key components to winning a Scudetto and Mancini is good at presenting his team this way.

“It’s a great, unpredictable season. My podium of favourites? I’ve said several times that Roma convince me in terms of their attack.

“I like the ideas of Sarri, Fiorentina is a surprise and Inter have the solidity of a team used to winning.

“Milan? They have yet to find an identity, I'm not surprised by their ranking from what’s been seen so far. But there is still time to express their potential.

Juventus? They are paying for the loss of key players, have invested in young players and must have patience.

“Fiorentina? It’s a surprise, with Sousa who is following the line with the ideas of Montella.

“Like the others, perhaps a little less than the others, they are certainly competitive.

“Kalinic? He’s a striker who has done well everywhere. Now he’s continuing to do well, for me it is not a surprise. He has athleticism, is alert, he will surely do well. “
