However, Ancelotti has explained why he would not jump at the chance to take the reins at Coverciano.

“Me coming to the national team? I like to coach, I don’t think I’d like doing it once every three months,” he said to Radio Anch’io lo Sport.

“As long as I have this thought – linked to Italy or any other national team – it will not be an opportunity that I will consider.

“I support Conte and I hope he wins the Euros.

“Two Serie A players that I would take to my next club? In Italy definitely Insigne, Bernardeschi, Baselli and Dybala. Abroad it’d be Verratti, the best of all.”

Ancelotti also commented on the current success compatriot Claudio Ranieri is enjoying in the Premier League with Leicester City, who he has taken to the top of the table.

“It’s maybe the hardest of all leagues. The school in Coverciano should not be underestimated, Italians abroad have an advantage for me.”
