Stefano Pioli suggests Milan don’t miss Franck Kessié and confirms new signing Charles De Ketelaere could start his first game with the Rossoneri.

CDK was Milan’s big summer signing but hasn’t yet started for the Rossoneri. He could get the nod against Bologna tomorrow, starting behind Olivier Giroud or Divock Origi.

“I trust him [De Ketelaere],” Pioli said at a press conference.

“It could be the time for him to start. He is very smart and I am surprised by how quickly he is learning Italian and the curiosity he has to understand our style. I have many options in that role.

“Tomorrow one between Origi and Giroud will start, we have seven games in the next 21 days, there are no starters, I coach a group of starters, I need all the players.

“Simon Kjaer is improving,” Pioli continued.

“Soon, he’ll be able to play. Gabbia is reliable, but Simon’s recovery is crucial for technique and personality.

“We need to move the ball quickly against Bologna, we are working well, but we must be more lucid in front of the goal. I like to have players who find the right solutions, we must be fluid and move quickly.”

The Rossoneri are looking for a new centre-back and a central midfielder in the final days of the summer transfer window.

Paolo Maldini is on the lookout for a replacement for Franck Kessié who has joined Barcelona as a free agent. However, Pioli doesn’t seem to be missing the Ivory Coast international.

“I remember when last season you asked me why Kessié was always playing despite not always being up to the task. Now, it looks like we are regretting [that he left].

“The clubs is ready to get new players if we’ll have a chance to do so.”

Pioli also discussed the transfer rumours linking Rafael Leao to Chelsea saying that the Portugal striker is fully committed to Milan.

The Rossoneri collected four points in the opening two Serie A games against Udinese and Atalanta and host Bologna at San Siro tomorrow night.
